In an effort to defend Canadian clients against identity fraud, Lincoln Automotive Financial Services announced it will provide complimentary credit monitoring for all Canadian clients who lease or finance a new Lincoln with the company.
The offer, which stipulates consumers activate their account on the TransUnion website, is good from May 2, 2016 to May 1, 2017.
“We want to provide our clients the peace of mind that comes from knowing their credit is being monitored all day and all night. They will be notified immediately of any activity affecting their credit,” Alan Cusworth, Marketing and Brand manager, said in a company press release. “Clients will also have unlimited access to their TransUnion credit report and credit score so they can check their status any time.”
The first 11 months of 2015 saw 25,000 victims reporting losing nearly $11 million ($8.5 U.S.) to identity fraudsters, the company said. The captive’s latest offering could certainly be cause for a mild sigh of collective relief amidst Canadians. This comes on the heels of the company offering customers free access to credit scores and an identity theft protection package (also free), last Fall.
Some facts to note: The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) estimates actual identity fraud victims to number at 500,000. Additionally, more than $220 million ($170 U.S.) are estimated lost to theft last year. The new service operates 24/7, and sends a direct alert to Lincoln Automotive when any suspect activity occurs.
Lincoln Automotive Financial Services is owned by Ford Motor Credit Company, and operates in the U.S., Canada, and China.
