Octane strikes updated financing deals with Indian Motorcycle, Suzuki

Octane is expanding its market share through updated arrangements with powersports manufacturers Indian Motorcycle and Suzuki . Octane reached a deal with the newly independent Indian Motorcycle for a full-spectrum financing agreement on April 15, according to an Octane release. The powersports financer previously provided financing for Indian as part of its partnership with Polaris , which began in January 2022. The arrangement with Indian follows the OEM ’s separat ion from Polaris Feb. 2. The lender worked with Indian’s new leadership to maintain consistent financing programs as they worked on the deal, Jon Vestal , executive vice president and general manager of recreational lending at Octane, told Auto Finance News . “The dealers didn't have to fill out a new deal agreement, so they didn't see any change in what the offerings were outside of any change that happens month to month in the promo offerings driven by the OEM." — Jon Vestal, executive vice president and general manager of recreational lending, Octane Dealers can access prime promotional financing and nonprime loan options on Octane’s platform , Vestal said. “As the credit market continues to change , evolve, and in some places, get more challenged, having a full-spectrum program can help dealers when they're trying to find financing and promotional financing,” he said. Suzuki partnership expansion Octane also expanded its deal with Suzuki Motor USA, effective April 1, to offer competitive financing for prime customers and full-spectrum lending across motorcycles, scooters and ATVs through Octane’s in-house lender, Roadrunner Financial , according to a company release. The expansion builds on a nearly decade-long relationship in non-prime lending and is designed to increase Suzuki sales by improving financing accessibility, Vestal said. “We want to be able to do that in a way that we can lend responsibly but also support retail aspirations,” he said. “We've been successful in that with all of our OEM partners, including the newest continuation of the Indian relationship, as well as the expansion of the Suzuki relationship, and the good news is the OEMs and the dealers continue to be very positive on the value proposition that is coming from Octane.” Full-spectrum lending gains importance Octane’s full-spectrum financing model is increasingly important, as interest rates rise and credit conditions tighten, because the approach allows OEMs and dealers to serve both prime and credit-challenged customers while maintaining margins and supporting inventory turnover, Vestal said. OEMs are also leaning more on incentives to sustain demand, with promotional activity rising and manufacturers increasing rebates, according to an April 21 BMO Capital Markets research note. BRP increased rebates on two side-by-sides and one ATV as tariffs placed a burden on the powersports manufacturer’s guidance.
